EYE EXAMINATION
The eye examination is an important health check
and should be considered as part of your normal health regime. An
examination not only identifies whether your sight needs correcting, but
can also reveal other underlying health problems such as high blood
pressure or diabetes. Regular examinations are particularly important, as
with some eye diseases, there may be no physical symptoms to warn you that
something is wrong. The sooner a problem is detected, the greater the
chance of successful treatment.
At this practice a comprehensive eye examination will normally take
approximately 45 minutes,
giving you plenty of time to discuss all your visual requirements and
health concerns with our experienced Optometrists. Unless advised, you
should have your sight examined at least every two years.
An
eye exam consists of several parts:- an Optomap retinal exam, recording Symptoms, taking
Medical History, discussing your lifestyle and working
environment to see if there are any particular ocular demands,
examining the eye both externally and internally,
measuring
Visual acuities and muscle balance to determine prescription for
spectacles if required. Further tests may be required or advised, such as
a more detailed visual field check in cases of suspected Glaucoma for
example. It is advisable to book an appointment for an
eye exam ( see home page for contact details) For email leave your daytime
telephone number and we will contact you.
